2nd Annual Children’s Concert

Join the Bountiful Philharmonia on Saturday, March 22, 2025 at 11am for their annual children’s concert featuring Peter and the Wolf and music from ET. Following the performance, members will be on hand for an “Instrument Petting Zoo” which encourages children to get hands on experience playing various instruments. This event is presented at the Bountiful High School Auditorium (note the location change from last year’s event). Admission is free and donations are appreciated.

Peter and the Wolf is a musical symphony for children composed by Sergei Prokofiev in 1936. The story follows a young boy named Peter who lives with his grandfather near a meadow and a forest. One day, Peter leaves the garden gate open, allowing his animal friends—a bird, a duck, and a cat—to roam freely. His grandfather scolds him for being careless, warning him that a wolf could come out of the forest.

Soon after, a hungry wolf appears, capturing the duck while the bird and cat manage to escape. Peter, showing bravery and cleverness, devises a plan to catch the wolf. With the help of the bird, he loops a rope around the wolf’s tail and secures it. Hunters arrive, ready to shoot the wolf, but Peter convinces them to take the wolf to the zoo instead. The story ends with a triumphant procession, celebrating Peter’s courage and the safe resolution of the adventure.
